With the passing of my Mom a few years ago and with taking care of a still very agile 85-year-old father-in-law, we know a bit about being a care giver for an elderly family member, and learning more each day. So when Teresa and Torsten Steinfatt, franchise owners of Home Instead Senior Care of Richmond, were referred to us, it seemed a natural fit to help them build an online brand presence for their local area.
As you see in the photo, their blog has just gone live, they have two matching Twitter background pages — one for Torsten and one for Teresa — and their Facebook fan page is in the works as well…all part of an online brand relationship campaign including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other ancillary online services like NetworkedBlogs, Blog Catalog, Google and local directories.
There are plenty of Boomers taking care of an aging parent or loved one and even those in their 30s and 40s who are part of the “sandwich” generation — taking care of senior parent and their own children simultaneously — who perhaps are working a full-time job along with being a caregiver. And those folks could really use an extra hand on an ongoing basis to help their parent(s) with the little things like medication reminders, errands, light housekeeping or other companionship or in-home care services that just make life a little easier.
My Mom was completely independent and working a full-time job at 72 years old before she was diagnosed with primary CNS lymphoma. All I can say is that I wish I had known about Home Instead Senior Care of Richmond during that time. Even with my husband and I available as full-time caregivers, we found it difficult to make the immediate transition necessary to have my Mom live with us, to help her go through various cancer treatments and then transition to hospice care. Believe me, we could have used the help and we want as many people as possible to know that this service is available to them no matter what their situation is for taking care of an elderly loved one.
